Making the most of the last week before an exam

The final week is not the time to learn whole new topics. It is the time to sharpen what you already know, fix small gaps and arrive calm and rested.

Review, don't restart. Go through your summaries, flashcards and the mistakes you have logged. Focus on topics that are likely to come up and that you almost know. That is where quick gains are.

Do timed practice. Complete a few practice papers or sections under exam conditions. Check your answers carefully and note any repeated errors.

Memorise the essentials. Make one page of formulas, definitions and key facts for each subject. Read it each morning and test yourself in the evening.

Prepare your exam kit. Check your timetable, venue and start times. Pack pens, pencils, ruler, eraser, mathematical set, calculator if allowed, and your index number or exam documents. Do it early, not the night before.

Protect your sleep. Keep a regular bedtime. Sleep helps your brain store what you have revised. An all-night study session the night before usually does more harm than good.

Eat and move. Eat regular meals, drink water and take short walks between study blocks.

Limit distractions. Mute group chats and social media for the week if you can. Tell friends you will catch up after the exams.

The night before, do a light review only, lay out your things, and go to bed on time.

On the morning, eat breakfast, arrive early and avoid last-minute panic conversations outside the hall. You have prepared. Trust your work.
